Leg banding for 4-H shows

I have to leg band my chickens for my upcoming 4-H show, but what do I put on the bands? Do I make up a number? Do the show managers give me a number? WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!

You don't have to put anything on them. Leg bands come pre printed with numbers. Breeders and show people use them for identification purposes. They are very useful tools for breeding programs or to just plain tell birds apart.

Just find out what size band your birds wear, order a pack online, and band them with numbers that make sense to you.
