Leg Bands

I am using the spiral leg bands. The size recommended for Orpingtons is #12. They seem tight. How snug should they be? I am thinking about getting size 14 for these big girls. I put them on two young birds almost three months old. They are loose but do not seem too loose. They hang a bit like a bangle. Just do not want to cause injury my girls. They are still growing at only 6 months old.

I used those too and didn't like it, when too loose the seem to unwind a little, I had an EE that I marked because of her blue eggs and the darn thing untwisted and got tight in the wrong way, others lost theirs. I'm actually looking into using colored zip ties.

I have heard some bad things about zip ties via this forum. I have bad eye sight so I need to have something that will not get tighter by accident. I can hardly see the bands that are on now. I want to band mine so I will know their age, and where they came from. Wish there was something eaiser.....
