I recently bought two showgirl roosters and their feet look horrible. I bought them out of state, so I was not able to look at their feet before I paid for them. I am thinking leg mites, does anyone else agree? I am treating them right now and they are looking better, how long should I wait unitl I put them with the rest of my flock?I am thinking until they look like normal chicken feet?? I do not want to everyone else to get it. I did talk with the lady that I got them from about the mites and she said she checked her other birds and none of her birds have them, is it possible for only two birds in a flock to be infested? I know anything is possible but these kind of bugs spread very easy don't they? I have posted pics please let me know what you think, don't mind the date on the pics I have not changed it in awhile as you can see :). Thanks

Yes! Scaly leg mites - I am treating my huge flock for the same problem - I gave a Rooster away last November as a gift - turns out he was abused and we heard about this - we heard he was to be slaughtered by a neighbour and we rescued him - he was in a bad condition and had scaly leg mites - we do so love him but we could have done without the problem he came home with! He is still being treated as are all of the others here now!

treat with vaseline and daily baths in water with epsom salts - it can take up to eight weeks to get rid of the ghastly problem!

Patience and good luck!!!
