leg problems and care for chick?

Discussion in 'Raising Baby Chicks' started by Ocala RIR, Feb 9, 2015.

  1. I hatched all 6 eggs. The last one hatched late is the problem. Apparently weak and has some leg problem. Tried the band aid thing. Not working out. The other chicks are attacking the poor little guy. Going to build a miniature house to stick inside the brooder. Course small lids for food and water. Looking for a better method on the leg brace. Hate to cull the little guy.

You might try hobbling its legs again, but this time stick it in a small cup to keep its feet under it. You'll have to check on it every few hours to get it to the food and water, but when I've had to do this, they're usually ready to get going after being in it just a little while.

    Good luck!
