Hi all, one of my newbies that hatched last night is struggling to stand. Both of his legs seem to work, he just seems to be struggling with coordination and kicking out to the side. He is very full of energy and a lot of life so I am hoping there is something to do to help him learn, he’s got a very powerful pair of legs and lungs! I moved him from the incubator into the brooder in hopes that watching the others might help him learn and encourage movement k

It seemed like it took my two youngest ones a little longer to get up than the others... they hatched around 20:00 and still stumbled until the next day... now they are perfect and run non stop all day. I imagine being balled up in an egg for so long is uncomfortable... you can get some save a chick electrolytes from Tractor Supply to put in the water to see if that helps, I think its one pack per gallon.

Post a pic. if possible. If the chick has splayed legs, it is pretty easy to fix but it would be good to try and diagnose first if that is actually the problem. Sometimes littles can take a while to get their legs under them.

Sometimes chicks just take an extra day or two to get their legs under them, but sometimes they need a little help. Hopefully it has worked itself out by now. If not, please post some pics and we can help you figure out what to do.
