I live in a town where it is legal to keep any form of livestock/farm animal/poultry, however it is illegal to slaughter any animal (even for your own family's consumption). I'm debating trying to fight the town on this, what do you think?

How completely absurd. How detached people have become from their food sources

Do you mean it's illegal to slaughter them on your own property? Are you able to take them to a processor for the time being?

I do agree it is absurb that you can't process your own livestock for self consumption...

Uhhh...how is anyone else going to know if you butcher an animal in your kitchen? If you freeze it an put it on a styrofoam tray...you can say you bought it at the grocery store..LOL

now, this has me dumbfounded. i don't even know how to type in the thoughts in my head with this. you can keep them but not eat them.....very strange for sure. i would go into a county board meeting with locally raised steaks and slap them down in front of each board member. tell them they would be commiting a crime if they ate them.

The problem is that there is not a single independent poultry processor in the entire state of Arizona. The only meat processors around here do beef and bison.

I can not find any processors in our area either, just pork and beef. We processed ours, and I do not see how your neighbors would know, unless they heard the hatchet. Ours did not make a noise.
