Legal to keep, illegal to slaughter...tips?

Same problem here in Nebraska. The corporate poultry company's have a lock on processing plants for poultry to keep the independents out of the market, and they have the government on their side.

Right about the rules. There are more and more stupid rules because the middle class is dying out in this country. The rich people complain about "those wretched gypsies and their dirty livestock" and the fat jolly town board member must agree. The countryside is changing - it;s fashionable for Mr and Mrs Snooty to get a few acres and raise snickerpoodles or whatever you call them. he he he

I don't see where this would be a problem.

Backyard, garage, basement, breezeway surely some where you have privacy. Don't tell nobody and eat the evidence.

That is what I thought but they do not normally consume them do they?

From what I understand they do or at least some do.

Just do what us rednecks do.....ignore the stupidity of governing bodies and do the sensible thing. Kill it quietly in a not-so-visible area and, if caught, say the birds had to be "put down" to keep them from suffering from internal injuries.

I'd make myself a killing cone out of a 2 gal. bleach bottle mounted on your privacy screen with a bucket underneath to catch any liquids, quietly slide the birds in place and slice the throat from one side to the other until you encounter bone, then stop. The bird will quietly leave this world and her/his "suffering" from the pain of internal injuries.

Out here in the country, more deer die out of season on a "crop" permit than do in hunting season.

Just butcher them in a place that is out of sight and keep your mouth shut. My motto is that it is a lot easier to get forgiveness than permission.
