"If the people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson

In order to protect us, our government has taken the liberty of deciding for us that raw milk is so unsafe, so unwholesome that it is deemed to be illegal for human consumption...at least in the state of Georgia. Fortunately, the same policy makers have deemed pink slime in beef, SPAM

, cigarettes, alcohol and countless other products completely legal, at least if you're of age to choose. However, regardless of your age, you are not free in Georgia or most states to willingly enter into an agreement with a farmer or retailer to purchase unpasteurized milk that you or your family will consume because it is illegal to sell raw milk for human consumption. Your freedom was absconded from you.

We think this is completely absurd and unconstitutional.

But the FDA and judges see it differently. In fact, in a 2011 ruling a judge in Wisconsin ruled as follows:

“no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to own and use a dairy cow or a dairy herd;”
“no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to consume the milk from their own cow;”
“no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to produce and consume the foods of their choice…”
This is an absolute denial of basic rights!

We are not making the claim that raw milk is more or less safe, more or less nutritious, than pasteurized milk. Food safety has never been guaranteed throughout human evolution, but freedom of choice has. We are saying that every consumer should have a right to buy raw milk if they want, and farmers should have a right to sell it if they want. We all know that states that have 'raw milk as pet food' laws are being used with a wink and a nod to allow milk to be consumed by humans. However, we believe this is not a desirable solution as, in that model, milk producers do not have to be inspected, certified or have their milk tested.

Are you... are you actually saying that we should make decisions about risks we take? How dare you! You should know that the all-knowing government has our best interests in mind, and that it - not us - knows what's best for us.

*Post is dripping with sarcasm.

If you want "food freedom" you and those in Georgia should be pushing for raw dairy production as a LAWFUL PRACTICE not LEGALIZING which has the very real potential of blowing up in ones face and playing into over regulation and a complete loss of choice.

We have been involved in this realm for a very long time and have helped educate many on the distinction.
