I'm so very sorry to read the circumstances of Felipa's passing. My gorgeous, loving, adorable Ellen died from what I suspect was being eggbound a couple of months or so ago. She was fine, then she was not. FAST. She'd just started laying and gave me 3 eggs, then none.... I thought, oh, she'd just getting her egg schedule going, she doesn't lay every day anyway (bantam lavender cochin), looked okay and active one day, then sickly the next and gone that evening.
I felt like I had been a horrible mother. Certainly not a good chicken keeper, to not recognize a problem in time.
You have my sympathies - I know it's painful to lose a chicken, especially one from a small flock, that you know so well and love so much.
