You have to help them and sometimes a chicken is not always cooperative. You are responsible for them to help them when you own them. It is more harsh to leave it and not take care of what is wrong with the chicken. Just remember to be watchful and not extend their legs in wrong postion to break bones or pull its wing too far back and apply some medication to it. If you were closer I would just doctor it for you.
