I haven't tested the theory, but is it true that if a male leghorn is bred over a slow feathering female then the female offspring will have rapid feathering and the males will not? I believe I have read that but I never tested it out. Not everything I read or remember reading (or misremember) actually plays out in reality.

So Leghorns are fast feathering?
If you breed to a non-Leghorn hen the chicks will be a mix -> lower egg production than pure Leghorn, is that correct? So why would you ruin your future egg production for lack of 3 weeks patience (if really Leghorns could be sexed at 3 weeks)? My philosophical thinking at 2.30am...

You can look at it the other way. I’m going to keep my Leghorn breed going but also use the WL rooster to breed with other types of chickens that don’t produce well in hopes the chicks will be better layers.

But, I do agree with your previous thought. If you like large eggs and a lot of them, in my opinion, you can’t beat a true White Leghorn.
