Leghorn Thread!!!

This is one of the hens I started off with. Lighting is a friend or it can be an enemy to the Buff color. Sunset really showed her true beauty. Things I wanted to change was to lift the wing to a level position, to create more even serrations, and a comb that would fold as a proper Leghorn hen should. A fuller lobe (not bigger) would be nice also. Many breeders are concerned with cocks having too big of a comb. And therefore, breed their females with a small comb instead of a medium one.

2015 Cockerel. A nice male to make progress with. He has a full tail and an even fuller saddle. Wing is still lower than I like but, it is underneath the saddle. Tail is at too low of an angle and once corrected through offspring, should improve the sweep.

2015 Rosecomb Buff Leghorn pullet. This pullet did not like standing on foil wrapping paper and this caused her to appear squatty. Sweep is nice. Wing is level. Tail is not showing spread, spike needs correction, tail and feet condition are dirty. Underline is ok.

2016 S.C. Buff . Better conditioning. Even though she is on better surface than the RC she is still uncomfortable with her surroundings and will not fully raise her head to give the alert appearance needed. Pretty bird though.
