Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

On another note, Crazy Lady's new project. Anyone want a puppy?
Oh Hell No!
I do love pitties they are wonderful, living in the valley these people seem to think they don't need to respect our local leash laws. I pass packs of dog's on daily basis and have such a wide selection of recently dumped! On the plus side summer has already started.
Crazy I even figured out why bike riders are arming themselves with heavy duty clubs.

It would be socially irresponsible to take an animal off your hands as there are so many death sentences awaiting animals down here. PAWS if you are desperate for takers would be a great choice!
She "Who must be named" is reading this too as we have a computer down and says "Spay that bitch!".
We have already sent 5 rescues north that we vetted in the last year. We did lose two attempted rescues in the last year as one was killed by the neighbor dogs and one cost us a shit ton of money as an attempted rehab fighting pit. Living next to Mehico kinda has its downsides like this ain't Texas it is Tejas and the popo are dumb as well you know! I plan to call animal control and will have to explain how TX laws work tomorrow to get them out here.

YES - momma and all the puppies will be vetted and fixed. That will hit the pocket book soon. I agree with "she who must be named". For some reason our neighborhood is a dumping ground. We do go for the subsidized spaying and neutering.

Cheers and good luck with the neighbors!

Yeah I totally get it I use the subsidized DV card for those ones I don't fall in love with. But after having issues with my keeper gal, who had to use that Fhlorhexadine(sp) gas with just me and my wife for assists I would never put another animal through that again. Her incision reopened on a Friday night so we were there on a sat morning so we got to help.

Well, thank both of y'all for being responsible.

Crazy Lady was vet tech for several years. Seen a bit.

Getting 15 eggs from 17 birds now. 6 CX in tractor growing.

I wonder if the Ngalli that this area is overrun with would compare to the above mentioned game species. I'll probably have to take a trip in secret to eat dinner at your place(and bring my culls I could tell my vegetarian wife they found a new home). Then stock photos should she wonder how they are doing now ;P. The accident really was a non issue for me and no police report was ever filed. My new Wrangler is intact and virtually blemish free left front mudflap?wheelwell?thingie? did get a scratch though its maybe 2 inches long. Even if it were worse there are soooooo many options for unbolting em and replacing them with a) something asthetic or b)armor that makes people avoid hitting you.

Sending you some pics of my birds I took this AM while we all foraged, the flock is resting here mostly as their crops are about to burst after eating all of those Army Moth caterpillars that are still around. Oh yeah these are 3 month olds born July 16.

Can you see the bearded lady with this funky little spider? It's web actually captured a 3 inch long mediterrean house gecko I was able to set free.

View attachment 1165100 Here they all are resting with horrendously bloated crops. The rest of the photos are just me trying to catch their full coloration without the benefit of direct sunlight. Also, I am in love with those gamey looking legs.

Since I am on my second batch of Sumatra chicks and we discusses the breed and sexing information way back in this thread......The hatchery identified male sumatra hasn't developed any tail feathering or sickles yet. The females have shown developed tailed at around 2 weeks, and at 4 weeks have strongly defined "tails" vs. the wimpy small male in this batch.

18 months old for the Ideal Leghorns and 236. Lost 2. First one to being egg bound. Second stopped eating. Unknown cause of death. Looks like #3 is egg bound.
2 Leghorns went broody this summer. I put one off the nest and gave the second eggs from the local Chicken Rancher. She had 2 survivors from 8 eggs. 3 unfertilized and one eaten the first day.
3 hatched. One was killed, one crushed in the shell after pipping and the remaining 2 are growing well.

Today - no eggs from 6 birds with one egg bound and one still raising chicks. I am getting 4 eggs sporadically. Usually, 2 or 3 daily. With winter coming, I'm expecting everyone to take a break.
