I am wondering if a leghorn hen is supposed to have what looks like spurs on their feet, the leggy in question looks like a hen except for these spur-like growths on her legs

The absence or presence of spurs or spur buds is not a reliable indicator of gender as many hens will develop them and male roosters will never have them - not only in leghorns. How old is Leggy?

Those are definitely hens. Spurs aren't a good indicator of gender as some hens have nice big spurs, as you've proved. And some roosters have nonexistent or wimpy spurs.

Thanks for letting me know! :)
I bout near had a heat attack last nigh when I noticed the 'spurs' I already have too many Roos! Three of which are for sale. :)

Another question, what does it mean when a chicken in general has poop all down the feathers on their but? They seem healthy and act fine.

Quote: If there is too much of a build up I'd clean it. Mine help each other out with that. Mine all have nice fuzzy long hair butts and poop gets on it sometimes. I'm thankful they keep each other clean though (I try to keep an eye out to make sure they're not too rough with each other during grooming, they seem fine though).

thanks!
I'm going to my grandparents' house (where they live) today, so me and my sis will be bathing them completely due to the fact, that the people we bought them from yesterday, didn't keep them the cleanest, and the other hens that were in there were pecking and pulling at them I'm sure. :/
