Legitimate fear or all in my head?????

No fear of heights, I just have a massive fear of falling.
I really hate crowds, but I don't think that's a fear.

I also don't like group hugs. I'm weird. Oh well.

actually a process called flooding has been shown to be effective in fighting phobias

Whats that mean? Where they overwhelm you with your fear? (make you face it..) ...I think i know what you are talking about..
but if its done its gotta be done by a professional...who knoows how to do it.. i think.

you are correct.

The jump master gave me his professional feeling. You will jump out of this airplane or I will kick your Butt off this plane.

Flooding is forcing somebody to face his fears...... like the folks who hated spiders in fear factor, and had hundreds dumped on them while in a glass tank. Yuck.

I might not have been able to go across that thing either.... I would be able to 'feel' the bridge trembling. Nope.... can't do it. If it's not solid and unmoving below my feet it ain't happening. Car driving excluded from that, but NOT airplanes..... or trains..... I can barely tolerate charter buses.

Fears are definitely legit - you should ask your family how many of them are afraid of spiders, snakes, dogs, water, crowds, etc? Most people have a fear of something, although it may not be so bad as to keep them from doing something. And, yes, it is possible to address the fears and gain control over it. Hypnotherapy can be very helpful with this, allowing you to address your fear in a safe and comfortable environment. It should be performed by a trained and certified hypnotherapist (different than the ones who put on shows). I used to do hypnotherapy and was very successful working on fears - mainly claustrophobia, fear of flying, and even a woman who was agorophobic and hadn't left her home in almost four years (I went to her home to start). It may take more than one session, but it can definitely work. And much better, IMO, than the flooding technique.

That makes sense to me...
i remember when i had to have several shots daily at home (for my IVF) AND I hate, HATE, needles..the thought of something sharp and metal going in my skin.. I used to break out in a cold sweat..*shivers..*

So they suggested that i have my DH give me the shots...i tried that..no way! I freaked everytime he came at me with the needle..
I had to do it myself..so i could control how it was done and any pain..

I am afraid of heights. I have no problem with airplanes and scissor lifts. I can take a scissor lift as high as it goes and stand on the rails for extra reach no problem. I am however terrified of ladders and roofs especially steep pitch ones.
