It isn't that sun in the photo made him look that way. It's being out in the sun that does it. Like he lives outdoors and not indoors. That's why a lot of breeders that show keep birds that are prone to brassiness indoors and on no corn diets to help keep them the correct color.

If he is producing any birds with black he isn't a splash.
