lemon cuckoo orpington?

I have lemon orps coming soon, to incuvbate.

It'll be my first attemp at incubation. I thought they were very pretty so ordered some eggs to do myself. I also have 11 laying hens of a mixed variety, and 2 roosters, a beautiful Buff Chantecler and a B Jersey Giant. (pics of him on my page) I cannot wait. They'll be January hatches once things get rolling here...I'll keep you posted on progress and subscribe to this thread.

Cuckoo - a term applied to the coarse and irregular type of Barring found on Dominques, Barred Hollands and Cuckoo Belgian Bearded d'Anvers Bantams.

A "Lemon" or Buff Cuckoo would be a Buff colored bird with the Cuckoo pattern.

No, a bird is either barred or it's not. A female needs a single copy of the gene to be barred. If she is not barred, she does not have the gene. A male can show barring with a single copy or a double copy. Typically if he has a double copy, he displays ligher barring and if he is single copy, his barring will appear darker.
