Less than 10 days until hatch, and FREAKING OUT!

I'm incubation button quail. THE SMALLEST BREED OF QUAIL. the eggs are SO TINY, and I can't tell if my eggs are alive or not! Button quail aren't common, so there's no candling charts for them. one egg already almost exploded...thank goodness we took it out before it did. any help?

Have you tried a phone flashlight yet?

yes...some eggs are too dark, and the shells are really dark brown (almost black) so it's hard to see through them.

The one that was rotten..how did you know it was bad?

well it stunk..bad. a few days later, one egg seemed to be wet and dripping yolk (?) out of a crack in the side.

I've seen eggs explode before, and it looked the same.

Have you been smelling the rest?

Were these eggs tested for fertility before you set them?

none of the others smell. No they were not all fertile, but there was a really good chance that more than half were. I cracked a few open and they were fertile, so i'm assuming that most were.

If you can't find a light bright enough to see in to them I guess you just have to wait and see.
