lessons to pass on for you build a coop

If this hasn't already been posted, rule # whatever, carefully compute the estimated cost for the coop. Now double that. Seriously.

Unless of course you just toss out the plans, build it willy-nilly with whatever you have on hand, and to hell with appearances!

Heh heh heh, Citychook et. al.!
We thought this project would be "fun".
We thought it would cost $700.00.
We are happy with the results, though...

Came across this section when looking for ideas on putting a coop in the barn. The question now is do I really want to go thru with it after reading this. The answer is of course why let every one else have all the fun. Hopefully I will remember at least on of the rules but I wont hold my breath

Love it.
I'm thinking having two 5 gallon buckets to keep your large and small tools in will make life easier, safer, and less frustrating. Why two? One to hold the tools, the other to unload the first into while looking for the thing in the very bottom.

When opening a new roll of hardware cloth , lay it on the ground BEFORE you pull on the wire to unroll it. That stuff spins so fast and will slice up your thumb if you try and hold it. Yup did that. Oh and put down the hammer before arguing with husband. Just sayin.
