Hi, I am member laughslikeachicken. My husband says I do anyway. We have two Ameraucana's and three Rhode Island Reds. They are about 5 months old. So far only one RIR is laying. She is already laying one egg a day. At what age do the Reds lay? How about the Ameraucanas? This site is very informative. With the help of members here we raised all of our girls from 1 day old chicks.

My Ameraucana started laying when she was just barely over 5 months old,
as did my Red Sex Links (which is a Rhode Island Red male crossed with a Delaware female)

Looking forward to that green or blue egg? My daughter loves the Ameraucana hen.

from Michigan! 20 weeks is a standard answer to the when do they lay question. Some breeds mature faster than others. My Isa Brown hens started laying at around 16 weeks and then they stopped
