About a year ago, there was a thread on BYC from a member newly transplanted to a small town. Her list of adventures were legendary for a while, including Tyvek covered homes, drunk karaoke, and small town oddities too numerous to mention before it got shut down - some of you here may know of what I speak.
In honor of that thread's memory, I would like to share memories from tonight's local homecoming football game halftime festivities where the court and king/queen candidates were introduced with small "bio" information snippets (and these were the tame ones):
My hobbies:
Sleeping, and eating my mom's homemade cookies
Spending quality time with my boyfriend
Partying and hanging with my friends
Goals after graduation
Going to college, marrying my boyfriend and having lots of beautiful babies
Going to THE Ohio State University and marrying a rich guy who is very handsome
Going to a big college, becoming a lawyer, and travelling the world This one was that actually made sense at this point, I was ready to leave, too.
In the stands around me after about the third one (there were like 15 total), people were listening in open jawed disbelief at what was being said. The comments started at "I'll bet your momma was proud of that bio", to finally, "who in the heck in the school administration approved this nonsense?"
To that long-closed thread, I raise a toast, live long and prosper, LJ!
