I have 1 extremely lethargic approximately 4wk old Silkie Frizzle chick. It sits down on the floor of the house with its wings partially spread. There is no pasting, the eyes are clear and bright. It is eating (Start N Grow). It is in with 3 Mottled Javas, another Frizzle, and 1 Cochin (all same age). The other chicks are running around and chirping and acting like healthy chicks. There does not appear to be any loose stool in the bedding. When I pick up the chick, it seems to be shivering. The heat lamp went out at some point between sunset on Wednesday and Sunset on Thursday. It is now Friday. It was too late to get a new heat lamp so I put in a regular 100 watt light bulb. This morning when I checked on it, it was sitting directly under the lamp. I replaced the light bulb with a new heat lamp this morning. I am not sure what I should do to help it.

You should bring it inside if possible and get it warmed back up. Drafts are hard on younger birds also. At 4 weeks old, the chick should be at no less than 80 degrees. Do you have any vitamins/electrolytes to put in her water?

The only electrolyte materials I have on hand is Gatorade. Unless there is some normal pantry item that could work. I have vitamin c and multi vitamin.

Gatorade is fine. You can feed yogurt, greens, and bugs (protein). Make sure there is plenty of non-electrolyte water available along with the Gatorade. Hope your chick get better!
