Lethargic chick

One of my BOs has been pretty lethargic since yesterday. She sleeps a lot, usually while standing up. She did have a little pasty butt this morning (I think that's what it was), so I cleaned her off. I just tried giving her a little sugar water. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You might want to separate her from the others. How much of the day is she sleeping and how old is she? Little babies will sleep a lot for the first few days. How is her breathing? Is she peeping a lot? (I mean more than normal.) Are there any others signs of sickness, such as breathing sounds, watery eyes or nose, etc.?

How is the brooder temp? Could she be cold?

I just went through this...twice. One died and the other is running around happy as can be. Is yours eating or drinking at all?
I had some electrolytes on hand and hand watered the chicks. The one that lived got attention all night (DD insisted on saving her). Once she figured out how to eat and drink on her own, we let down our guard.
I hand watered the chick that didn't make it, but I think she was too far gone before she made it here.
I couldn't find my droppers, so I just dipped my finger in the water and let the drop of water touch the end of her beak. (With clean hands, of course.)
After that, we offered moistened chick starter. Her pasty bottom has cleared up, thankfully. I was tired of wiping bottoms!

Thank you. I have separated her. She has little unused spice jar caps with her food and a little sugar water. She has taken a little sugar water from my finger. I don't hear any breathing sounds and her eyes and nose are not watering. I guess we'll just keep babying her. I really hope she'll be OK! Of course, I will take any and all suggestions!

Just make sure you keep her vent clean and her brooder at a good temp and it sounds like you are doing everything you can. I had one die on me a few days ago from unknown causes. I thought maybe is was aspergillosis but that is supposed to be super contagious and none of my other chicks got it. I hope your little girl gets better soon. Keep me posted.

I can now hear a clicking sound when she breathes. It may have been there before but I hadn't notice it. We just got her to take a little sip of electrolyte solution. We'll keep trying.

Well she's still here. The clicking has lessened. She's still sleeping most of the time, but we were able to get quite a bit of electrolyte solution into her yesterday evening. She was a little pasty again this morning but cleaned off pretty easily. She's not getting any worse, so I'm a little hopeful.
