Lethargic chick

I understand everyone has a life outside this forum. I don't understand, how after posting for nearly three days ago, only one person has responded and offered me some advice. Especially on a topic where a bird has died and I'm seeking some medical advice on how to save a flock from dying as we'll. I mean I see more people responding to topics that is " entertaining" rather than trying to help me. I'm not going to continue my rant, because we all know there are too many sensitive people that would take it the wrong way and take offense. I'm sorry that I felt I could turn to a specialized forum site to get some vital time sensitive medical advise. Especially in a world where most regions don't consider chickens as pets or any knowledge on their health. Anyways, my obligatory apologies if I've offended anyone!
My advice for wanting future help in a timely manner, would be to start a thread yourself. The issue this thread was dealing with for Smokey got kinda cleared when she died unfortunately, and I'm sure most stop checking. Also, try searching for others that have posted the same question and read the advice they were given.

Thank you for the ones that responded back to me. I did search but didn't find any threads that spoke about routine maintenance to prevent outbreaks that could've been prevented with a maintenance program. I thought about starting a new thread but in the past it had just been bumped into an older related thread anyways. I also saw that this was the most similar thread and was recently active with replies. Once again, thank you for the few that was able to help me!

To my knowledge there is no regular maintenance program,if i am wrong someone please correct me. The only thing you can do,is be knowledgeable of the warning signs and treat accordingly. I try to research all ailments that could affect my chickens,so that in the event of an outbreak of some form,i have a basic understanding of what i am dealing with. I also have a journal that i record any medical issues with my chicks,as well as dosage info about all the different medications i can use. Sorry i couldn't be of more help. Hope all your chicks are doing better.

I think the journal is a great idea, I might start doing the same! And writing the dosings in there for the medication on hand is helpful too.

After the preventative dosing, you shouldn't need to use it again ( although I'd keep it on hand, just in case ). Just keep an eye on them :) I did the low-dose Corrid for a week and half, and then started to do Apple Cider Vinegar instead, thinking the chicks would be okay. But 2 days later I noticed bloody stool! I switched right back to the Corrid water and thankfully everyone seems fine now. My chicks are about 5 weeks old now, so I'm hoping my Cocci-scare days are over...Hang in there :) If you ever need any help, feel free to message me :) I'm still learning too, but maybe between the two of us we can figure out how to keep a happy healthy flock :)

Thank you, it's been two days now that my girls have been on corid. So far, everyone appears fine and healthy. I'm wondering if the girl who died was an isolated health death. Anyways, at least ill have a piece of mind knowing that they are being treated since it is prevalent in the soil where I live.

Google and you tube work great when you need an answer "now". I've solved many problems by researching and trying to become familiar with what can go wrong... There are some great forums here and many very knowledgable flock owners, some of them are professionals that make a living from poultry.
Good luck with your flock. As you gain more experience and knowledge it gets easier. I never thought I'd be washing chick butts (pasty butt) or helping incubated eggs hatch (sticky chicks) and giving mareks vaccine to day old chicks. Gives life a little more purpose I guess.
It is sad to see any animal suffering and I've had to dispatch and cull because I have to work full time and never have enough time to maintain a sick chick.
I've generally found that by owning and maintaining an isolated flock has been the best preventative. I don't take any "free" chickens unless they are going straight in to the freezer. Practice at least minimal bio security and only wear my coop shoes while in or around the coop, keep separation between my brooder, coop, and incubator and know my flock. Sick birds try to hide. This is a basic prey survival technique. Look at them all in the eyes everyday and if you detect anything unusual address it right away.

Ugh... Looking at my girls two are smaller and two are larger. I did corid for a week, took days break and started back yesterday. The smaller seem lethargic at times and then next time they are up checking things out eating. Then I'll check again and they are laying down with the bigger ones practically sitting on them. Am I bring paranoid? I also posted some pics under pictures and stories. Not sure how to link that. If you see them, Sofia and Patricia are the larger two. Gertrude and Bellatrix are the smaller. Thank you so much.
