I purchased silkie chicks from TSC today. One of our chicks is much smaller than the others, and is lethargic. I have syringe fed her honey water with save a chick electolytes mixed in-- she perked up well after that for a bit. I woke up about an hour ago and the chicks were all hopping around except Midge. I hard boiled some eggs and mixed in a tiny bit of garlic, cayenne pepper, honey and water. She ate just tiny tiny bites of it but still seems lethargic. She is eager to drink and goes to the bowl herself or drinks bits from the syringe. Any other ideas for her? I tried to save another chick that TSC let me take home for free since it was in rough shape, but unfortunately lost her as soon as we arrived home. Just hoping to avoid losing another chick! I have already become attached to this little one :)

If the sav-a-chick solution doesn't do the trick, you may just have to let nature take it's course. It maybe she's just a slow starter, only time will tell. We have our fingers crossed for her,

Thank you! I had to be gone for a long time today and was so nervous! Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised when I returned home! She had perked up and was eating on her own with the other chicks. She is definitely tiny, so I do not think we are out of the woods just yet, but I will take it one step at a time. Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate it!!!

Heart broken to report that Midge passed away today while
I was away. I don't know what happened-- she seemed to be doing so well last night and this AM. RIP Midgey girl!
