Lethargic chicken, off food, pale face & comb

I see that the lice are pretty bad, if you can't get access to DE you might need to cut the lice off. The chicken won't have pretty feathers until they grow back in, but it will get rid of the problem. (Might also want to check for lice around vent and neck.)

Nutri-Drench is a nutrient-rich supplement formulated to rapidly deliver energy and essential nutrients. it will make your chicken perk up. It has a ton of protein in it and tons of vitamins. It's in liquid form. Some people mix it in the water, but I have learned that a dropper full in the mouth of the chicken will work more effectively.
Thanks I'll have a look for some of that 👍

Thanks, I'll get some DE and some nutridrench 👍

So definitely lice problem then, nothing infectious? Is it ok to put her back in with the rest of them? Also, is there any reason why the ivermectin didn't kill them? Thanks

Did you just do the one treatment? Did you also treat the coop? Its possible it was reinfected, depending on how long ago the treatment was.

Pretty sure it is just the lice problem. I wouldn't put her back till she perks up because lice will reinfect the other birds. The lice may be dead, but still have had effect on her, or the lice had too many spots in large numbers around and didn't all die. Also, the coop may have been infected.

Yes just one treatment. I asked the SQP that I got the ivermectin & fenbendazole from if I should repeat dosage and she said no just to use one dose. Coop was thoroughly cleaned but not treated

It sounds like your hen has a respiratory infection. The lice are just a secondary problem, it is common for birds with health issues to become more heavily loaded with mites/lice. DE is a respiratory irritant and I don't recommend using it on her right now. Actually, I don't recommend it at all, but that is a discussion for another time. Nutridench is good idea. Keep her inside, offer the layer without the corn. Tagging some more help for you.@azyous @mistrachen

Ok thanks very much. If no DE should I re dose ivermectin?

Not right now, deal with the respiratory issue first. But yes, the ivermectin should be repeated 2 weeks after the first dose. You can treat the other hens, and get some Permethrin spray, clean out the coop and spray it down with that. Support the sick girl with good nutrition, ( not corn) you can soak her layer food to make a mash if she's not eating well, and leave her be until you hear from some of the experienced medical experts here. She may need antibiotics.
