My salmon faverolle is usually very bright and enjoys running around but i went to lock the hen house up last night and she was on the floor outside. She couldnt stand up and was extremely raspy. I brought her inside and she stopped rasping about 1am. She still cant stand up but has laid an egg - very oddly shaped and soft shelled but she isnt interested in food or water...what else can i do?

I would keep her separated, and offer food and water often. Scrambled egg, tuna, canned cat food in a ddition to her usual chicken feed are good. Get some human calcium or Tums, and give her 1/2 tablet orally or crushed in food once a day for 3 days. Also insert a clean finger inside her vent 1-2 inches to feel for another egg or any membrane inside. She may feel very weak from something going on in her reproductive tract, such as salpingitis or impacted oviduct. The shell gland in the oviduct may be having an issue. If the calcium doesn’t help after a few days, stop it, and just let her take her normal layer food and have crushed oyster shell available. Have you ever noticed her or others sneezing often? Hopefully, she will feel better since she has laid the odd egg. Here is an article about oviduct issues:
