My 3 month old female Muscovy duck has been really sluggish the past 2 days. She doesn't seem to be eating and she has been sitting in her coop resting her head in her back feathers. Her feathers have been looking pretty bad as well it looks like she has been molting but i thought they only start molting when they are a year old. I'm wondering if she is sick all the other ducks are fine and their feathers look normal. I had to force her to go outside of the coop today and i tried to give her seeds but she wouldn't eat.
here is a pic of how she has been sitting

and here is a pic of her feathers

I'd try something more enticing mine would kill you for romaine. She doesn't appear poorly that said i do get your concern. 3mths is too young for a broody coming on. The positive is no one else is acting off, so whatever is going on is her's and her's alone.

I have the same questions as Amiga, diet.. ratios? I will admit the odd time i have seen a lady be a bit off to only come out of it a few days later with no ill effects. That said, definitely keep an eye, i wonder if some poultry vits would be a good idea, i don't have any so will defer to others on the usage.

I use Vitamins with Electrolytes Plus. The Plus is probiotics. Once packet lasts me a year or so, because it's a quarter teaspoon per gallon of water, and we don't need it often. We are due for some, though, with all the intense weather and having to stay cooped up more than usual.

I have 4 drakes and 6 females, 2 of the drakes are adult drakes that i have bred and the other 2 are only 3 months old and just starting to hiss. 2 of my females are adults and 4 of them are 3 months old. I feed them lettuce, spinach, seeds and pellets every day they also eat a lot of grass and worms and everything else they can find outside and i give them some mackerel or pilchards (sardines) every so often. Where would i buy poultry vitamins would they be at the produce shop i get their seeds from?

You can try there and also Tractor Supply carries them too. also on line.

Those ratios are going to be rough soon, what are your future plans?

I'm planning on giving one of the 3 month old drakes away with one of the females, the other 3 month old drake is mentally handicapped because he wouldn't hatch so i had to help him hatch. Then one of the roosters i used to have pecked his head and gave him a big head wound which made him worse so i will have to keep him, he is much smaller than the rest i don't think i will have any problems with him because he is only just as big as the females so they can defend themselves, so i'm hoping 5 ducks will be enough for the 3 drakes im going to keep. I will definitely get some vitamins for them.
