Lethargic Duckling, need advice please

You had some die to didnt you? And yes offer scrambled egg mashed up sure saved my two that had shipping stress just wish I’d remembered to te you that. Lost two saved two with scrambled egg and prayer.
Yes I lost four to severe lethargicy but they were not shipped. I used nutra-drench, vitamin b and the scrambled eggs. It did help at first with them. I think if it had been just normal shipping stress they would have made it. I also made sure to use warm water for them to drink.

Thank you all for your advice. I am going to give my little Welsh Harelquin duckling some scrambled eggs and another dish of yogurt now. I haven't seen her eat in awhile but hope she tries. She now doesn't but up a fight or squeak when I pick her up to dip her bill in a nutri-drench water mixture. I've tried the drench along her bill too, but she doesn't respond. Lately she has been turning her head sideways and laying it on the bedding. 😞 If she passes away, she will be my fourth death in four days...a duckling a day is so incredibly depressing! Trying to keep my other ducklings and goslings healthy. Going to do a complete brooder clean out tomorrow to make sure there isn't something I am doing wrong...their bedding isn't wet or too poopy, I've been spot cleaning and removing wet litter along with layering fresh pine shavings.

She passed. I just went out to see if she would eat and I found her on her back. This really hurts after awhile. 4 out of 10 ducklings is a horrible death rate...really upset and I will be calling the hatchery again Monday and asking what I am doing wrong. Can't stand the idea of burying another duckling.

Hate to say it, but maybe time to send the 4th for a necropsy. That way you might find out if its contagious & if you can treat them for something else. Otherwise, id think they'd recover from shipping strees w/ the way you are treating them. Also, 4 days after shipping seems long time to b hit w/ illness from shipping stress...

When was last time your water was checked by city? By inspection if your own well? Was city water recently chlorinated? We lost birds a week after a hurricane & had problems w/ ponies. Well partially collasped & filled in- pump dredged silt & filth until died. We had to haul in water till could get well fixed... for us as well as critters.

Having 4 die in 4 days is heartbreaking & hard. Cyber prayers for you.:hugs

I wish i could help, more, but im still new to raising ducks myself. We purchased our 1st in years in 2017 from the feed store. We lost one duckling - no signs of illness that we saw. Running around the nite before - dead early AM when i went to feed/water before leaving for work @ 6Am..

I have no experience w/ necropsies on birds as I've only had them done on ponies.

I am so sorry :hugs Give us a run down on your set up,feed your using, what kind of heat Source. I really doubt it’s something your doing. Also are all the ducklings dying the same way if so symptoms. I am heartbroken for you and I sure hope the hatchery works with you. What hatchery?
