Lethargic, fluffed up chicken with clear, runny poop. Close to death. URGENT

are the feathers around her vent messy?
I had two separate chickens with the same symptoms a while ago, both cases were fatal.
I noticed that both hens also had messy vents.
One thing that helped them a little bit (didn't solve the problem) was using tetracycline hydrochloride water soluble.
terribly sorry about your hen.

She just passed. It was about as peaceful as it could be. I wasn't there when it happened, I came in to find her sprawled out instead of curled up, with liquid on the floor next to her beak. That's how all of our other chikens have passed, so I can only assume it's normal. It's kind of discouraging;she's the 11th chicken this year to pass, out of 15. Is that a normal loss rate?

Sorry for your loss. No, 11 out of 15 is way too many. I suggest that you call your state vet and ask about having a necropsy done.

They've all been from different reasons, which is why if anything is wrong, I suspect it's on the quality of care and bad luck rather than environment. Actually, looking back, two of those losses were because they were roosters and needed to be rehomed. I just feel like we have such bad luck, as well. Three chickens got sick from reasons outside of our control, two chicks died from faliure to thrive, two died in a bear attack, one died as a direct result of a mistake I made with a heat lamp. Then this one died from what seemed to be a genetic disease.

11 out of 15 in one year is way too many. 11 of 15 = ~73% Please call your state vet.
