- What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Cross between Rhode Island Red and White Rock 2 year old hens.
- What is the behavior, exactly. Lethargic, not eating or drinking, stay bedded down, hangs out in coop, then dies a few days later.
- How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? A few days
- Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? We just had the second bird die today, the first one died a few days ago.
- Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
- What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Not sure.
- What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Chick feed with oyster shells.
- How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Don’t see any abnormal poop.
- What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Nothing, not sure what to do. This came on rather suddenly.
- What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Would like to treat myself, if possible.
One thing that I noticed was the wattle is a lighter color red than normal. Not sure if this helps with the diagnosis.
