Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

I have been collecting eggs from my butlers (originals from JJ) and they all have the attack quaillady predisposed in them

I only have 2 hens so it takes a week to collect. I don't know why I like them but I do.

I am doing what I normally do when I get a new birds...I like to try several varieties and then go from there to see what I like and decide who gets to stay..same with chickens, ducks geese. I do like the idea to the size of the Butlers..I also like birds with spunky attitudes ...

Most of my bantam roosters will nail you, they are great hen protectors ! some of the hens are spicy too !

I got some of JJ's and some from Texas... Both are really nice birds. When anyone that knows nuthin about butlers, but shoots northern bobs, walks up to my pens, it OH my Gawd those are big!!! I can't help but grin and say "ya, ya they are!!!" Bill

My bantam cochin roos are like that.. have a batch of young ones that will be hitting the grill soon.. well.. maybe not soon enough! Evil little buggers are determined they ARE going to rip a chunk of flesh off of me.. they definitely are mini feathered velociraptors!

If they could take the cold better I might try them, but from what I have read I don't think they are cold hardy for my winters here.

Button quail are not cold-hardy so they need to be kept indoors. But if you have an insulated, heated, building (maybe one with brooders?) they should do fine in there.

Yes I would love to try and raise some buttons. I plan on getting me some very soon. I will have to find someone on here to get them from though. As far as I know there is absolutely no one that raises them around were I live at.
