Let's plan a Quail egg hatch... set 'em Sept. 1, hatch 'em Sept 17-19+

that sucks! My batch that just hatched had a stinker, I caught it before it burst but it was only half way through, i'm sure if i missed it it would have burst and ruined everything! Fingers crossed that the rest do well for you though!

I was sitting out by the firepit with my boyfriend one night and the dogs come running up. I look up and HAY! Thats a quail! It landed by the horse wash rack, dogs chasing, I ran over to catch the bird, yelling the dogs off, and he FLEW! I mean that sucker flew like a bird!

Off he went and was Gone! I was amazed and couldnt believe how well he flew! A big ole roo too! No idea how he got out of the pen either!

sorry partner and poor mr saddi...football season just started, bet he was looking forward to all those Quail treats...

I darken the room, put my thumb and forefinger into an "0" shape, set an egg on there. Then I take a small powerful flashlight and shine it up underneath. If it looks very light, that's not good. I don't bother candling until day 10. The better part of the egg is opaque at that point if it is growing a chick;-)

Well I did it again. I thought I had quail due the 11th and found a baby chirping at the bottom of the Sportsman. I ran to the other incubator and more eggs in there. I have 3 out so far. I moved them into the hatcher, but I'm thinking I should have just left them alone. I have eggs rocking, but not sure if I blew it yet with all of them.

Oh the torture!

Still have rockers, but that's it. The first 3 are pecking at the shells, but nobody want to come out. Hope they aren't going to die in there.
