I have 8 of these feeders that I modified to keep feed waste to a minimum. I use this style feeder in my grow out pens. Each feeder last about a day and half with 30 birds per pen.

My breeding birds live in a set of battery cages that I purchased in Baton Rouge, LA. The entire cage is built of stainless steel with rubber coated floors. The original battery was 48 cages, but I removed the wire between every other cage to give the birds more room. Now the battery is 24 cages. Stainless steel feed troughs. Birds stick their heads through the door to get food. Automatic water bowls in the back of each cage run off a gravity system. Floors are tilted so eggs roll out underneath of the feeders. Very nice system that makes keeping the birds simple.
Each cage now uses two of the feed troughs. 1 rooster : 3 hen ratio. 4 tiers with 6 cages each. Stainless steel dropping pans that are easily cleaned every other day.
