Lets see if we can help this family in MA

My Dad directed me toward the bylaws. When I was a kid, he kept 6 pigs and 20 chickens on a 1 acre lot in Billerica! I told him the neighbors secretly threw a block party the day he moved out. He said he was allowed to do it because of the wording in the bylaws at the time. I live further north, have much more property and far fewer neighbors. Not to mention that one of my neighbors kept chickens many years ago so he was thrilled when he saw we got them. Makes it easy to find a chicken-sitter when we go away too. He is so happy to be paid in eggs. This is all good news for me because I'm waiting for 5 more chicks from Mypetchicken this month! Phew!

yeah, we did a lot of searching to know what the rules were before we moved last summer. We knew we wanted the pacs and chickens and chose a town where there are horses, cows, sheep, and goats among the people. Though we are clearly in a town where farming is still ok, you never know what the bylaws throw in (like number restrictions, or types of quarters etc). My town now has a right to farm bylaw and an ag committee; if your town has one you can always turn to them as well.

our neighbors on one side have chickens and the roos crow back and forth. our neighbors on the other side have said they want to get some - I plan to give them eggs once we have extras.
