bump. Anyone?

Mine free range with chickens just fine. If they are not pinioned or their wings clipped they may fly over a fence.

Mine free range with chickens too. Can clip the wings but I've found mine generally just don't wander, or don't try to. Might be just how they are or its a muscovy thing, not sure, only have 3

My 6 free range with my chickens too. They have their own pen (with a top) and fly over sometimes to meet me at my back door for feedin times, lol. I've only had them since summer but so far they have stayed in our yard.

Here are just a few of my muscovies. They hang out with my geese, chickens, & Wilbur the potbelly pig. Mine do fly over the fence to the big pond but are always back for feeding time. LOVE my muscovies!

I have a covered pen for my Muskovies. Flier lived up to her name and took off one day - have not seen her since. Flipper my junk yard dog/duck and little Darkwing are fine with the enclosure. We just live too close to a big lake - I don't put the 4 ducks with the Banties because I had some trouble with the Indian Runners beaking one of my Belgium D'uccles to death. Picked on her all the time and when my back was turned - just attacked her. I do not know how Snakeman can have that heavy duck on his shoulder when I pick Flipper up he weighs a ton. I have to pick him up and throw him in his house so I can do chores - otherwise he is constantly pulling on my pant leg. Fifi-Quack , Ice Cream-Fish and Darkwing are proper little ladies. And Yes, the grandchildren named them.

I don't remember if it was last year or early this year, but I had picked up two muscovies and did not care for them much. The drake tore up one of my runners (no fault of his own, just being a drake and all) and I couldn't handle him without getting clawed all the heck. I did like the female, she was cool flying around and pooping places she shouldn't, but when I decided to get rid of the drake, I got rid of her too. Fast forward to a month ago. I thought to myself, hrmm... I'd like a good meat bird that I won't mind butchering.... how about muscovy? So I went out and bought 5 of the little buggers. They were only a week old.

Well drat. They are by the far the most mellow, sociable bird I have I have ever met. They follow me everywhere, trust me completely, and are SO cute! I dunno how I'm gonna do the deed when the day comes.... maybe they will be one drake to four females and I can keep them to breed next years meat.
