Yeah, that would be my version of redneck. Or slapping things together haphazard, as having no money to purchase new materials for a project leaves me with mismatched pallets, discarded wooden furniture (desks, closets, etc). This is the friendly meaning of REDNECK. And no disrespect is intended to anyone. It is purely a reflection of self!

Yeah, how do you engage those wheels!!

Our "Mother Clucking Chicken Camper Coop"

It has a screen door made from hardware cloth, a pop door cut into the rear of the camper so they can come and go in their run!

What a great Idea!! Wish I could get a small sumtin into my completely fenced yard. The gate is only about 3 feet wide!!

mine is a super ugly ghetto shack, but the girls come home every night and roost in it. They probably wait till it is dark out, they wouldn't want anyone seeing them go in there hahahah

its a clothes chest, it had three levels of drawers, but i don't know where those are and the rest of it is made with real wood like furniture used to be made with. So it is sturdy. I call it their condo. the two upper levels have nest boxes, which is just two pieces of wood L shaped that I just have loose resting on the drawer sliders, its convenient i can just lift those up and clean easy and the girls roost on the top nester box in a tight row some on the middle support part so most of the poop falls in that one box. The flip up doors are junk wood and the handles are fat screws, for fun I put some old house #'s on the two doors. It looks really bad but i think the ladies are really comfortable. I want to wrap some tarp around it for the winter months. I didn't buy a thing even the hidges and nails are from other things taken apart. I'm not being cheap i just thought it would be fun to try not to spend a thing on it. except for nine fence posts and chicken wire. I made a feeder out of a plastic coffee container, two frizbees, one clothes hanger. It is so rustic charm. I only have four RIR so it is enough room. I'd like to buy this A-frame I saw at the farmers supply store but it is a thousand dollars. Its really cute, i tell my husband it is something you could have for a good twenty years or more if it is painted every few years. He doesn't want to spend any money on it so thats why i went with what i have. If I had a nice coop I would have more chicks but this is a good start for me right now.

Anyhow, my ugly coop:

Yes, it does lean. I jacked up one side with a car jack and it leans less (lol). Was originally a shed. Then a horse stall. For storage the last 25 years (which is why all that junk is there - gotta find something to do with that stuff!). Enclosed front with scraps I had around including 1" bird wire but I had to buy a roll of chicken wire to finish it up. The lower part is all the heavy wire at least.

This is the back. The back wall rotted and got pulled off but there's a wall all the same that separates the very back from the main shed. It hasn't been painted in 30 years, other than a few spots someone started to paint then quit. Yes, I do live in the city but luckily, in a neighborhood where we all just mind our own business. The only thing that will get anyone's drawers in an uproar here is noise. And even then, only if it's frequent.

i dont know whos gonna win . but can i just say some people may have got upset by what people have said

but i think everyone on here needs a MASSIVE CONGRATS for their amazingly functional coops and happy chucks . if you have ever built something from hand you will know that feeling

..... and its not the same as buying it off ebay or getting an expensive carpenter x
