Lets talk about goats!

Pics
I breed and raise NPGA registered pygmy goats and a bred doe (depending on if she is purebred or registered) that is registered (thus purebred) goes anywhere from $250-300 depending on the sire. I just bought a doe bred for $200 and once she is confirmed pregnant I owe the breeder another $50 for the breeding memo. Hope this helps your babies are super cute!

Well our baby goat was born 19 April and he's growing like a weed.

This is Georgie O'Keefe master of mayhem and silliness. He's going to be a big boy!

Right now we have a pair of Boer goats plus this little guy but we want to add a Saanen to the herd. Any ideas where to look for one? I don't have to have a registered one or anything. I just want to milk her and to give my female some company. Our goats are more pets than anything so, ...

We got our Saanen doe off of Craigslist from a family who takes young kids from a local dairy. I would check CL before anything else.

Adorable buckling!

If you used a disbudding iron, it really needs to be used before the horn buds even come close to breaking through the skin in order to be effective and prevent scur growth :/

In that case a lot of Alpine buck kids would need to be done before they are born!! That said, you are right. The earlier the better. I used to try to get my kids disbudded at about three days for the Swiss beeds, maybe a week for the Nubians. In the weeks after disbudding, watch the horn buds. At the first sign of regrowth, reburn them. This will save you a lot of grief and prevent unsightly scurs, too.

I've heard that about alpine lads! All ND bucklings born here have had palpable horn buds withing a day or two of birth, so I usually do them between 3-5 days, depending on how prominent they are.

My sables are that way. I burn them early and even so still get scurs. Sometimes I think you'd have to disbud as a newborn to prevent them.

We like goats! Oh yes indeed goats are great pets and fun to have around.
We raise the Fainting goats (both Silkys Longhair and the typical shorthaired)and the Mini Nubians. There all fun. See more at our website www.bellsgoats.com
Here are a few photos for fun.
