Im also gonna take pics in about a month to see if there is a difference in how she looks, since she's probably only a month pregnant if at all, and maybe thats just how this little doling looks. Also watching her to come in heat.

Same here! I am thinking in the spring Im going to invest in a baby, but want to get all the need-to-know info first. Excited about this forum :)
If you are going to get a baby, get two and bottle-feed! It is such a great experience! Warning: You will find yourself wanting more and more goats

Hoof trimming, is that something you do yourself or you have to pay someone to come out and do it? Easy? How much time per day does it take for dairy goats if you have say 2, only one in milk? I would love to see pictures of peoples goat set-ups, particularly people with small set-ups.

I am thinking about getting a goat or two in the spring. I have a small fenced area in my backyard and I could turn the area under my small 6x12 deck into the goat house. I am afraid of creating too much work for myself but I would realy like th fresh milk for my family. We currently have chickens but chickens are easy and dont take a lot of time per day.

Hoof trimming is easy. Go to a local feed store and ask about it so they can show you in person what to do. If the goats are real tame its super easy to do.
I haven't breed my goats yet but if you put the milk in the fridge it will last more than three days. I've seen people drink it after seven days!

The fenced yard should be good. But they will eat the wood and POOP everywhere! I'm building a fence right now for them.( they have been living in my front yard, and have ruined my porch!)

So how does everyone handle all the poop if your goats are in a small yard? Do you have to go scoop it?

Harvestmoongal- were your goats not fenced in your front yard? How did you keep them in the yard? Tie them to a stake? I actually live on an acre but it is not fenced. My chickens free range but they dont go very far. I would love to be able to let my goats on the full acre as well but I cant afford to fence it right now so they will have to stay in the tiny area that is already fenced for the dog.

We don't do any thing in are front yard, it's fenced in. So all I do is sweep it off the porch and walk way. They have eaten ALL the grass and its now covered in a thick layer of poop. It's not the prettiest thing ever...
When people try to enter/exit the gate the goats try to escape, and the are always coming in the house! I woke up one time to one of them in my bed!! It's annoying to my family, but I love them so the dont care.its like a normal thing.(Im always having to chase them!)Right now we are half way done building a cage for them. I can't wait!(and my mom can't either!! Haha
You might want to build a cage. It doesn't have to be big(they need some room to run and play!) then you can tie them to a post and let them graze.
Keeping them in your front yard isn't so great.
If you want them that bad then you won't mind :)
