Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

I have decided not to continue with the White Marans, I only have the one pullet, she is sweet, nice shank feathering and to my eye looks good. But it's been kind of a hassle getting a cockerel of different lineage to put her with and the thought of building yet another coop has dissuaded me. Good luck to you all, I hope you are successful in getting them into the Standard.

x2 She is gorgeous!! I think you should either keep her until you find some white eggs (maybe you will have better luck in the spring?) or sell her to a breeder who has nice whites. Heck, you could probably show her even if you aren't breeding her.....

I am setting golden cuckoo eggs this Tuesday, coming up, along with some project Lemon Cuckoo Marans eggs{

and maybe a few golden-blue cuckoos, if my blue girl cooperates.
Also setting lav orps, lav silkies and perhaps some crele key west eggs if there is any room left in the bator lol !!

As it is, I have two upcoming shows. One in Maryland and one in Delaware, I think I will show her and see if I can sell her at the show. Probably Delmarva, I think that's a bigger show than Lebanon.

Box her up and send her to Texas if you are not going to use her. I really wish that you would consider hanging in there and using her in a breeding program. She is really beautiful.

Congrats on the babies! Would look that way. What is the box in the picture that you are using- do you hatch them out in it?

Yeah. I got the basket at the Dollar Tree or one of those type stores. I have a cookie cooling rack, also from the Dollar Tree, on top with zip ties to keep them from hopping out. Works great. I can get 12 in my hatcher when I stack them 3 tall.
