Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

lovely looking chooks .great type and well colored .
the cockerel is chunky ,the way they should be .

if you use your F0 or the F2 double barred over the splash pullet you ll get 10% Blue barred cuckoos .

why not name your flock my friend ,they are true breeders and they have proven then selves so I thinks they deserve to be named .

personal opinion .

chooks man

I was trying for more splash pullets, but ended up with 1 and the cockeral. Same thing for blue coppers, ended with 1 pullet and 1 cockeral of them.

I also got some ameracaunas and ended up with one splash and one blue pullet. Will be using for blue and black barred olive eggers.

one of each is a little short , fingers crossed they lay nice dark eggs .

2 of my F2 SCM pullets I kept to breed from later this breeding season lay nice dark eggs , well pleased with them .
now I have to teste mate them to see if they are ER/ER or ER/EWh .

more eggs went into the incubator last night 175 .
19 F1 X F1 SCM
22 Blue X Shamrock ( Blue cuckoo )

all good soon I ll be seining some chicks .

The seller claimed they were bev Davis line and had decent eggs, around a 5 in the run with the parents. I wish you good luck with the hatches

Out of this season's hatches and move, I ended up retaining 2 GCM hens. One is the one I posted earlier:

The second is this girl. GOOD feathering, color and shape. Not so good comb. The big issue with her is some white on the earlobes. None of her sisters have it, no her parents. Not solid, but still white nevertheless.

I needed to retain more than 1, and she was the best.

Got a question for you, What would cause some to appear with no gold or barely visible. I ended up with two of these. The older has great shape, great comb and leg feathering, just barely visible gold.

Those are beautiful birds, morbius!
I also have a hen with almost no gold. I crossed my rooster with my lone GCM hen (back when I had only one), and one hen ended up with nice gold around her neck, the other has almost none.
