Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

This is so much to learn, but I am glad I will!
So I am slightly confused, and I'm sure I just forgot it, but it should be double barred, right?
And the color shouldn't really be light like the last rooster depicted?

Yes, the rooster should be double barred. It should be light like the last rooster. That is my initial rooster that I created my line from. He is double barred, which produces a light bluish gray color for the barring. Single barred roosters will have the darker color. Hens can only have 1 barring gene, so they are all dark like the single barred rooster.

To simplify, 1 copy of the barring gene adds dark barring, 2 copies is a sex link trait that only males can have and lightens the barring.

I bred my double barred rooster to a black copper hen, all the babies got 1 barring gene from dad and no barring gene from mom (she's a solid color) In this picture, you can see the lighter father, the single barred darker son, and a single barred hen (they can only be single barred)

Thanks for clarifying!
It certainly is sobering when you realized you looked over such a huge mistake, that the bird you have isn't even considered that breed! Lol!
I shall go out and take a few picks of the hens. At least they don't have yellow legs going for them!

Alright, so in the future, I am looking for a rooster that resembles the coloration of mine, but is an actual Golden Cuckoo Marans with a lower tail and tan(what do you call it?) legs and beak?

We have a fast learner here Bravo .

I agree 100% with Morbius18. the French standard call for the ER/ER based bird.

Morbius has explain every thing nicely to you, nothing for e to add.

she is a pure recessive white, nice pretty face.

nice feathered feet but a wrong color .they are darker because of the ER based.

my dominant white they have dark feet .they are ER as well come out from a splash copper.

I took another picture of her legs, they are pink, there is just dirt on the edges of the scales.
