Here are a few shots of my blue barred GCM chick:

Another of the blue one, but you can see the brown colored one. This one is a cockeral. What color would you call the brown one? I'm going to have a few of these, I wonder if they breed true.

Bravo Morbius18 .they are a correct color.

the photos are not always a proper way to see the chooks.

thank you for clearing this for me.

ER recessive white with a white /pinkish feet is a rare thing very special .

Don t let her out of your site . she is an asset .very rare.

you are precise man . I like the way you work .

nice working with you in this GCM thread.

This hatch had another white one. Cannot see in this picture, but it is a cockeral. I will get to see if he has any gold leakage in the hackles.

they are nice the 2 Blue GC marans. early feathering type. plus they mom is queen . is that give them the right to be called prince/princes?

are you aware that you are in the process of creating one of the most rare variety in the marans ,, BGCM ER/ER based with dark eggs trait.

Keep as many of the BGCM cockerel as you can .they will be use full to you in the future. So you can single mate them to they mam to get F2 single barred but with reinforced dark eggs genes. Because they are complex you know that.

the Red one in the back are red partridge ( Perdix in French ) does not exist any more but it is recognized .( I m discussing the project of recreating t ,no much is know about t )

the French Club want me to work to recreate the Silver Partridge .

I do have a pullet Yellow Partridge ,I m going to cross t to a single barred F2 gold/Silver cuckoo ( wheaten based ).long way.

here a photos of her

she s an English type come out of my English cuckoo X wheaten

So I m going to mate her with her half brother. from the same F0 rooster but different hens

Ok the White cockerel is fine if he had a gold leakage is expected .First appearance from a dark variety ,it is normal.

if you pair him with his hatch mate the white pullet you will get a good percentage of a pure white plumage cockerels.

DF Cockerel look great to me ,good one to watch.

AH the Brown one my favorite. he is a barred for sure and he is Db Dark brown for sure ( he s the Golden Golden cuckoo I told you about ,very rare )

check with a genetic calculator .put a golden cuckoo with a Db/Db rather than db+/db+ = you will get the Golden/golden cuckoo.

the Db Dark Brown gene inhibit the deposit of the black/grey coloration on the feathers , making then red/buff .

with a Co /Co the columbiam gene we ll have a same result GGC.

but not both Co and Db we ll have a pure barred buff no sign of any black/grey. Co+ Db work magic together .

is he a cockerel ?

Still a little early to tell in the brown one, they are a week younger than the BGCMs and the white one.

The chicken calculator calls it 'black pattern columbian with less hackle markings barred'. I dont know which pair threw it though. I had separated my two pullets to ID the one that carries the recessive white. I have F0 rooster with F1 daughter and F1 rooster with F1 sister. I then hatched them under different broodies. I had one more go broody and threw unmarked eggs under her, it hatched from those.

I really like blues and wanted a blue golden cuckoo, and I'd like to try to do a splash golden cuckoo as well.

She is a pretty bird, I like the partridge pattern as well. What causes the pattern instead of the barring?

Alright, so in the future, I am looking for a rooster that resembles the coloration of mine, but is an actual Golden Cuckoo Marans with a lower tail and tan(what do you call it?) legs and beak?

The beak is called 'horn colored', sometimes I get some with darker patches on the light color:

The legs and skin should be white or pinkish:

yeah my friend the partidge pattern is turn the barring into almost lacing .is the presence of Co or Db plus Pg pattern gene

we need the Pg gene the pattern gene .to make the lacing

so this bird carry for sure Co/Co or with Co/Co with Db/Db plus a Pg as well.

a difference between a salmon and the partridge is .
the Salmon hens return her salmon chest BUT the prtridge hen lost a salmon chest .and is more laced .
