Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Pics
The brown faced chicks are doing the opposite of what I was expecting, color wise. Their head and necks are getting lighter, almost a pseudo double barred appearance on the head and necks.

Hi Morbius18.
interesting thing are happening with your crosses.

I like the brow cuckoo chick he s stunning .maybe he will turn up as the Golden golden cuckoo marans very rare.

what about the silver one you think he s from the Blue hen or just double barred .

eb dark face I thought they will have a darker hackle but it is not the case . lighter hackle.

Pretty sure he's double barred. The blue crosses have darker beaks and toes. I'll have to look good tomorrow. There are 20+ chicks.

the crosses with a buff Orpington have a nice lush copper /Gold colored hackle and shoulder.but too much at the chest

will be nice if we can achieve that sort of color with the ER/ER .s+/s+. B/B Roosters hackles and shoulder.

he s huge compare to his hatch mate a single barred .
the single barred one have nice body color dark cuckoo pattern, nice shoulder, bur lighter hackle ( lighter hackle is not a fault just not preferred )

Love your work my friend. you know your chooks onside out the why it should be BRAVO

that normal they have a dark feet and beak, they are single barred .even the double barred should have horn colored beak because they Gold based not solver .

20 more chicks good on you mate.

I'm getting good color on my golden cuckoo olive egger pullets. Something with the blue egg gene must inhibit leg feathering. These have a few feathers in random spots. My buff orpington marans crosses have full leg feathering.

Hi Morbius 18.

the color of your GC olive Egger are stunning .they are turning into ER bird.proper GC color BRAVO

the leg feathering gene Pti is very hard to add to the dark shank chooks but could be done with a time.

double barred GCOilve Egger will be nice.I like them better than the other crosses with the Orpington .

I found the Orpington crosses are more red like the e+ chooks NOT a proper GC color..

GREAT job my friend

I have the best golden olive egger in with my single barred male now, but I didn't get a double barred male. We're also going to be moving, so hatching has stopped, and I've sold the orpington crosses and easter egger. Trying to streamline the flock for a move soon.

My last group had 14 cockerals and 4 pullets, they will all be destined for the freezer soon.

I think my little Buff Orp cross from your eggs is very pretty. Here is a picture of the whole family. The boys are starting to get their color.
