I did a small hatch here this spring. Only 2 of 8 eggs that hatched turned out to be pullets. I chose the darkest eggs I had (which are not terribly dark), and will be looking forward to see how the new pullets' eggs turn out. They are almost 15 weeks old. The gold on their necks is rather subtle:

They are nice looking pullets. My second to last hatch had 14 cockerals and 4 pullets.
My f0 GCM cross to a black copper were really slow to gold up. With the f1 x f1 cross, they get gold when they start feathering up about 1 month.
Did the pullets gold up gradually, or were they like that the whole time?
They developed the gold fairly slowly. Here is a photo of one when she was younger (on the right). The center bird is a mixed breed, but the other two boys are both GCM and very different looking from each other.

I do not understand how you tell single barred from double barred. Is the cockerel in the foreground double barred? He looks a lot like the cockerel in your post, and is very slowly getting a little gold color. Are all GCM roosters supposed to be double barred?
