I start collecting some nice eggs from the Shamrock and a Blue copper hens .

well happy about them

by Sunday I should have my 150 fertile selected eggs to go to the incubator .

all good down here .soon I ll have some marans chicks all sort of colors .

looking forward to it
.best time of the year to see if all this theory and genetic calculation going to work and give me some progress .

Mine have been free ranging at our new place. I got the deck rebuilt, carpet replaced and finally got the house. Unfortunately, today I'm pretty sure that a hawk got my Blue barred GCM cockeral. Gone without a trace and no feather pIles anywhere.

that a shame ,he had to take the BGC cockerel sally hawk .

the risk will take to let them free ranging .

gess you have to hatch some more that all .

F2 double barred is getting more gold. Him with my recessive white hen. She is really pure white.

they are both very nice and large chooks too,

from the photos I prefer the single barred ( maybe just the way he is posing ) nice large correct body type . great long back and tail .
i like his deep chest . well balanced .
I can t say much about the double bared .no much i can see .

make sense your white pullet is pure white ,she come from a cuckoo chooks . the barring gene help the produce a pure white . nice white feet too .

i like this shot . does high light all the good quality of him . stunning . which of the 2 has a nicer body type? very hard to tell from the photos . chooks man
I caught the pic as he was snapping his head toward me, his wattles were still swinging to the side. I kept him for the better comb. The double barred one has a bad rear lobe of the comb. Thick body and neck. He's still a little smaller than this double barred one. The single barred one had a hen type build for a while, small chest, but is starting to fill out. I think he is around 6 months old. They are both siblings from the same hatch. I like the single barred one better, but plan on keeping them both as hawk insurance. The main F0 rooster runs them away from the hens, but they linker on the outskirts of the flock. Both are alert to predators, so having 4 doesn't hurt until I get everything fenced in the spring.
