Here is how we secure the run. We don't actually lock the lock. Notice two zip ties. Why? The door is self closing. My neighbor once stuck in the run. The clip on this latch disconnected. Luckily she she had her cell phone and called for escape. So, think Getting out.

We use pad lock clips on the houses with a carabiner and gate latches with a carabiner. Raccoons are smart, but they can't figure a carabiner. It takes several actions together to use it.

Pad lock hasp. Used on nesting box door

Gate latch. Used on run and house doors

X2 on the gate latch and carabinersfor the people door into the coop. I have something similar on the pop door. The padlock hasps are on the nest boxes. And the same lock as @jreardon1918 on the door into the run (with a carabiner at night).
