Lets try again

So I was interested to see what sex I had guessed for your Wyandotte previously now she’s a pullet but not sure how to find your previous post. I thought I could follow you but doesn’t give me the option to see your previous posting from there. Would you mind looking up my post to you and advise me of my guess on the wyandotte chick please? Thanks in anticipation!

I dont see you on there...

I just realized I am missing one Cochin. Good news that the little guy shown is a guy. The other one has a much longer and straighter tail.

I thought that big white chick was a boy as it got bigger. So we have at least 2 boys and 3 girls right now.

So much for buying from the local chicken lady! Oh well.

EDIT - if we only keep these 6 birds (may add 2 more Easter Eggers soon, a friend has too many) can we have more than one Rooster? I thought it was only one per flock otherwise they get into it unless you have a large flock.
You might get away with two cochin roosters if they've been raised together because they are usually a mellow breed and not very athletic. But that white Wyandotte isn't going to play around when he gets to the age and he would very likely dominate and probably injure a cochin rooster if it was in the same pen.

When do we cull the Wyandotte? The little Cochin is by far my kids favorite bird and we bought these for him. Right now he looks too small to eat unless we just cooked him up for our dogs plus my kids like playing with him at this size. Kids sit out in their temp run area and let the birds hop all over them to try and get the birds used to them. We dont mind waiting a while if we can. The Cochin cockerel is by far the smallest bird in the flock right now so we dont want him injured.

You can wait a while but keep a look out. The cochin looks like a bantam, so that is why he is the smallest. Wouldn't stand a chance against the Wyandotte when grown. Culling doesn't have to mean eating-- you could put an ad on Craigslist or a feed store bulletin board. Someone else may want him.

OK, so I just talked to the woman who sold me the chicks and sent her photos. She is insisting that white Wyandotte is a pullet. She has several hundred birds on property and been raising for a long time. I had asked her since she offered to exchange any birds with issues when we got them. Here are the same photos I just sent her... She's saying the red comb doesnt mean anything yet and I need to wait it out. We didnt pay much so that is not the issue, we just want a happy flock.

Look at his legs...you see how thick they are?

Wyandottes can be hard to sex from my experience because pullets do tend to get pink in the combs faster than many other breeds. However then their comb development usually stalls out. That being said I'm guessing cockeral on yours also based on his legs being huge.

If you want to be absolutely positive keep him a round for a couple more weeks. Looks like maybe a splash to me and beautiful.

I'm also suspect of your gold laced based one how little it has feathered in. My Wyandotte pullets have always feathered faster than the boys. Is that one the same age?

While two cockerals with such a small group of pullets could be a problem as they may fight especially if locked up all the time. They're more likely to be too rough on and injure the pullets.
