Hi! Today vet prescribed 0.06 ml levamisole orally to my 250gr quail. And said repeat it after 14 days.
The med she prescribed is in a form of 40mg/5ml solition
I look it up the dosing but It says 18-36mg/kg or 40mg/kg in different sources.
But either way the dosage she perscribed is so low? It is actually only a small drop.
I wonder if she miscalculated the dosage and said 0.06 instead of 0.6
Does anyone know about the levamisole dosing? Should I give 0.6ml and repeat after 14 days?

here are the sources i found.
First one is from Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook
Second is from https://parasitipedia.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3676&Itemid=4073

The dose 40 mg/kg means 40 mg of 100% levamisole per kg of bodyweight which converts to 18.2 mg per lb of bodyweight. Most medicine is cut down to 10 or 20% so you have to refigure.

Levamed an Prohibit is 90% Levamisole so it is pretty strong. With an 8.8 oz bird that sounds pretty close. What medicine are you using?

I use a medicine called Sitraks. It's in a liquid form.
As I mentioned it has 40mg levamisole per 5ml. So 1ml has 8mg of levamisole
According to the chart (18mg/kg) 250 gr quail should use 4,5mg levamisole.
So that means 0.56ml of the syrup. Am I wrong?
That's why I thought she miscalculated 0.6 into 0.06

I couldn't be sure if this dosing infos I found online are ok. So, I wanted to ask if anyone knows the dose (18mg/kg) is true and safe?

Your math is correct. Can you call the vet?

I can call the clinic but I'm not sure if they answer or I can contact to the vet who examined my quail. Because of the lockdown I had to go to the emergency service of the clinic. (For the vets only emergency service is open during the lockdown)

The vet was not very familiar with the birds. She searched through some books for what medicine to use and dosing infos.
I gave my quail 0.5ml yesterday with my hands shaking and hoping it's not too much :') Her poops got a little bit better but still not so normal. She is still lethargic.
I can only pray for her now.

No that was not too much according to those sources.

8.8 oz quail, using Sitraks 8 mg/ml:

18 mg/kg dose = 0.56 ml of Sitraks.
40 mg/kg dose = 1.25 ml of Sitraks.
