levamisole for tapeworm

Levamisole has been around for a long time, and has been used successfully to treat many types of worms, so I think you are in good hands.

In the US, levamisole was taken off the market many years ago because of side effects, but also because drug dealers commonly used it to dilute or cut cocaine. Humans could get sick from using it in drugs. It also had a short history being used to treat cancer. Here is some reading about the history of the drug:

Niclosamide is used in some countries to treat tapeworms, if praziquantel or albendazole (Valbazen) are not available. Perhaps talk to your vet about what they use to treat tapeworms in dogs and cats. Praziquantel is sold in the US in tablet form as Droncit or Drontel. As I said earlier, removing feces and intermediate hosts for tapeworms (flies, worms, snails) can help to control it.
